I'm writing this out of despair. And to help those who are thinking of making a decision about employing a company such as Heritage Lofts to build their loft extension.
Before I start, I think it's fair to point out that the quality of work carried out by the various contractors that Heritage Loft Conversions have sent me has generally been very good (The notable exception is the roofers they sent, who left a lot of mess behind - although at least the new loft room seems to be watertight).
My main grip with Heritage Lofts is the time it has taken. The brochure and my contract each say that it should take 6 - 8 weeks to fully complete the loft conversion. However, my loft conversion was started in July 2007. And as I sit here writing this, the week before Christmas 2007, it is still not finished! And this is an ongoing saga of empty promises and missed appointments.
I'll go more into the details in subsequent posts, but for now, think very carefully about engaging Heritage Lofts to do your loft conversion if you want it done quickly.
